Areas with explosive atmosphere due to the presence of gas

For the transmission of natural gas among the national territory, Romania has a 13,000 km long pipe network, also connected to neighboring countries.
Along the pipeline connected to Moldova, in two of the junction stations from which the gas is directed to the local cities, new compressors have been installed.
A gas compressor is a mechanical device that increases the pressure of the gas by reducing its volume and at the same time pushing it forward in the pipeline to the next pumping station.
In such an environment, classified as ZONE 1 according to the Atex Directive 2014/34 / EU, where the high risk of explosion is implicit in the presence of natural gas itself and in the process, when it comes to electrical junction boxes, only products with ATEX-IECEx certification in the “Ex II 2GD” category are allowed.
For this reason, the customer chose the ZENITH-S Series junction boxes in AISI316 stainless steel complete with nickel-plated brass cable glands for armoured cables and ZENITH-P junction boxes in thermosetting GRP material, customised by Scame based on its specific needs in terms of cable glands and internal components.
