Switched socket outlets with interlock
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
......................................................................................................................................................
The technical characteristics of SCAME's wide range of interlocked-switch socket outlets have been carefully tailored to the intended end use of the product, and comply in full with EN60309-1 (IEC309-1) and EN60309-2 (IEC309-2) standards. They satisfy the most diverse electriacl installation requirements, while improving the degree of safety and reliability in these installations.
The use of interlocked-switch socket outlets is growing steadily. By preventing the insertion and extraction of the plug when alive, connection accurs only under the best circuit conditions and therefore avois any possibility of contacts giving off sparks which might cause danger to life and property.

The test were carried out under the following parameters:
- salty atmosphere: 5% NaCl
- test period: 300h
- test temperature: 25°C
The products remain operative after testing.
FLUSH AND SURFACE MOUNTING MODULAR SYSTEM
......................................................................................................................................................
Ideally suited to installation needs in premises that require industrial sockets but where protrusion from the wall must be kept to a minimunìm, such as in kitchens, bars, public places, shops and business premises in general.
The OMNIA System include:
- a flush mounting box
- a surface mounting box
The flush mounting box, which is suitable for walled installations, can be combined both horizontally and vertically with any number of boxes by simply fitting them together with a special coupling insert. This also allows the cable to move easily from one box to the next.
The surface mounting box is designed for small external installations IP55. In the same flush or surface mounting box 16A and 32A interlocked-switch socket outlets in OMNIA Series IP44 or IP67 can be mounted.
VERSIONS
......................................................................................................................................................
Both flush and surface munting boxes can house:
- A flush mounting interlocked-switch socket outlet, OMNIA Series from 16 A to 32 A, IP44 or IP67
- A consumer unit up to 6 DIN modules (17,5 mm)
- A blank cover to provide a junction box
A practical frame gives the flush mounted installation a professional finish and an attractive appearance.
The design of the OMNIA System box enables it to chenge its functions as required, for example changing from a junction box to a consumer unit, from a consumer unit to an interlocked-switch socket outlet, etc.

MODULAR SYSTEM FOR COMBINATION UNITS
......................................................................................................................................................
The new, completely IMQ-certified, system by SCAME has been mainly designed for industrial purposes. It consists of two bases (module 106 and module 136), which can be provided with interlocked sockets made in two 16/32A and 63A containers.
The reduced number of versions in only two sizes is the solution to manifold planning and installing problems, assembling very few elements and easy manteinance.
VERSIONS
......................................................................................................................................................
The whole ADVANCE 2 System is based on two standard widths, 106 and 136 mm, which are produced in two different modules:
- MODUL 106 here defined as "compact"
- MODUL 136 here defined as "large"
Both modules are also available in the HD (Heavy Duty) version, which is made with high mechanical features and resistant to chemicals agents. It has been designed for heavy use.
ADVANCE 2 System consists of the following:
- n. 2 modular supports having the sizes below:
106 x 434 (compact)
136 x 584 (large)
- Many connector blocks and set housing boxes with modular lenght of 106 and 136 mm.
COMPATIBILITY
......................................................................................................................................................
No incompatibility has occurred with all SCAME systems installed up to now for the innovative ADVANCE 2 Series. This continuance is precius. In fact, it also allows using the new range of products for the manteinance of already existing interlocked batteries.
The ADVANCE 2 System cable inlet is of "METRIC" type; the components of the ADVANCE and OMNIA Systems and Series are of "PG" types.
Compatibility is anyway ensured, even if the metric inlets shall be adjusted to PGs during the installation.
For the OMNIA Series, we advise to use performances with metric inlet (cat. number Mxxxx).

SWITCHED SOCKET OUTLETS WITH INTERLOCK
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONS
......................................................................................................................................................
SCAME ADVANCE 2 Series, interlocked socket outlets have smooth and well connected surfaces, with no sharp edge or lines, included the hang grip, which ensure top safety and ergonomic use as well as easy cleaning, being installed in environments that particularly need such requirement.
A vertical convex strip symmetrically runs along the front side, gathering the handgrip contol, which can be also provided with lock, the transparent opening for the monitoring of switches or protective fuse that connect down with the socket, following the round profile of the cover and being a sort of functional axis of the product.
The small window has been installed by overprinting. It allows maintaining the IP67 degree of protection without using any gasket or shutter, with perfectly smooth surfaces.

THE EXTRA-LOW VOLTAGE SYSTEM OF SAFETY (SELV)
......................................................................................................................................................
The SELV System is effectively used on low voltage installations to provide protection against shock hazards for personnel in the event of direct or indirect contacts. CEI 64-8 (IEC 60364) Standards require the following essential conditions to be met by an installation to implement the SELV System:
- rated voltage: not above 50V or 120 V d.c.
- power supply: from a safety source with galvanic separation, eg. safety transformer, emergency generator, battery, equivalent electronic device, etc.
- live parts are not earthed nor connected to the live parts of the other electrical systems nor to protective conductors of other circuits.
- electric circuits: electric separation from other circuits with isolation characteristics equal to those provided between the primary and secondary winding of the safety transformers, use a non-metallic sheath.
- metallic bodies should not be earthed nor connected to protective conductors of the mettallic bodies of other electrical systems nor to external metallic bodies.
- plugs should not be inserted into the sockets of other electrical systems.
- sockets should not allow for the insertion of plugs of other electrical systems and should not have earth contact.
ELECTRIC INTERLOCK VERSION 125A
......................................................................................................................................................
Suitable for supplying heavy electrical loads, such as required for building sites, assemblies and complex machines or systems that assorb high currents.
SCAME's ADVANCE 2 Series 125A socket outlets come with protective devices already installed.
A undervoltage release opens the circuit if the supply voltages goes under the pre-set limit.
VERSIONS
......................................................................................................................................................
PILOT CONTACT
......................................................................................................................................................
Under the IEC 60309-2 Standard plugs and sockets with rated current above 63A should be fitted with a pilot contact, which, through an electric interlock, prevents the plug from being inserted and withdrawn while under load.
This device prevents the forming of dangerous arc discharges between the contact.
The pilot contact closing lags after that of the phase contacts when the plug is inserted into the socket, whereas the pilot contact opening leads before that of the phase contact when the plug is withdrawn from the socket.
Thanks to this sequence, through the undervoltage release, the pilot contact causes tripping of the circuit breaker, which switches off the socket's main power circuit before the plug is withdrawn and closes it after the plug has been fully inserted.
