Quality products

If you go into one of the many little shops selling material from the East, you may end up with a screwdriver that doesn't even last half a screw turn, low-cost testers with similarly low quality, or light sources that nobody knows how long will last.

And yet it's all sold at low prices.

Without, however, any certification except a far-fetched CE mark which, as is well-known by now, in these cases indicates the term China Export rather than the familiar and much more authoritative CE marking (European Community).

On the other hand, those who value quality and safety and don't want to become confused, or confuse their own customers, know that the certification of a product is an element which allows them not only to sleep soundly at night but also to demonstrate their true professional abilities.

A conscious and appropriate choice

Thus the choice of a "certified" product takes on a value which goes far beyond the mere demonstration that the product is compliant with specific technical and safety standards.

And yet we should learn more in this regard.

Voluntary certification:
product with the IMQ mark

The various forms of the certification

The certification, in fact, can be mandatory or voluntary .

In the first case the product enjoys free circulation only if it has, precisely, the certification. The second case indicates, on the other hand, that the manufacturer wants to highlight the qualitative characteristics of its product, counting on the added competitiveness that the certification provides and wanting to demonstrate the authoritativeness of its industrial operation.

In short, in order to be marketed in Europe, a product must have the mandatory CE marking; if it also has the voluntary marking of a third party, its production line will have to be subjected to initial tests, periodic inspections and monitoring. A third case is that of the manufacturer's declaration of conformity.

The assessment of a product's conformity is, in turn, done by the first, second or third party. In the first case it's the same company that self-declares the characteristics of the product and its satisfaction of the Standards. The second-party assessment is typically that carried out by the customer who wants to verify the correspondence. The third-party assessment, on the other hand, is carried out by an outside body, independent from the company that produces the product, which certifies the product's satisfaction of the standards.

and mandatory CE marking

The CE marking,
essential for the free circulation
of the product in the European Community,
must be affixed to the product or,
if this is not possible,
to the package or instructions sheet
and constitutes a declaration of conformity
of the product to the reference EEC directive
issued by the manufacturer

Who should you trust?

At this point, which company and which products would you trust more?

Those coming from the East, marked CE indicating China Export as cited above , or those of a company which specifies in its catalogue the outside authority that certified the quality of its products?

Try looking through the Scame catalogue and you'll find, practically on every page, the symbol of the "medal" which indicates the certified quality of the products you'll be installing: the mark of authoritative third-party institutions.
